Veterans Roll of Honor: ROBERT DEAN GANGER

Branch of Service: United States Army

Rank: Sergeant

Service history: Sergeant Ganger (on the right in the photograph, taken somewhere in Italy) enlisted in the Army on 21 August 1943, and after basic training was assigned to the Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry ("Red Bull") Division as a wireman. The 34th Infantry Division is credited with 517 days of front line combat, more than any other Division in WWII, while the 1st Battalion is credited with 611 combat days, the most of any Battalion in the war; the Division also suffered the most casualties of any Division in the theatre (21,362 men killed, wounded or missing). Sergeant Ganger was discharged in November 1945.
