Rank: Technician Fifth Class

Service history: T5 Andrew I. Church served in D Company, 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry Division (“Yankee Division”). At age 28, T5 Church was old for an enlistee; he had tried to join the Navy, but due to the critical shortage of Infantrymen, was put in the Army, where he took part in the Battle of the Bulge, and fought into Germany and Czechoslovakia. At war's end, he was assigned to Occupation Duty in Austria.
