Service history: PFC Shook entered the Army in January 1943 and was assigned to Company F, 534th Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment of the 4th Engineer Special Brigade. He took part in the assault landings at Morotai Island (Netherlands East Indies) and Lingayen Gulf, Luzon (Philippine Islands).
