Veterans Roll of Honor: GENE R. HALL

Branch of Service: United States Army

Rank: First Lieutenant

Service history: 1Lt Hall was assigned to Battery A, 933rd Field Artillery Battalion; at the time of his death, his unit was attached to the French Expeditionary Corps taking part in the battles on the approach to Monte Cassino, Italy. Lt. Hall was killed in action near Acquafondala on 01 February 1944 by a shell fragment wound to the chest. Initially buried in the Marzanello Nuovo Military Cemetery, his body was returned to Dayton for burial in Woodland Cemetery in 1948.
